Bold Move
EGUERMIN is the traditional host for the biennial NATO MCCM Northwood Exercise “BOLD MOVE”.

Bold Move is a computer assisted exercise (CAX) which allows training in a controlled environment in the planning and execution of naval mine warfare and related maritime operations, within the structure of the NRF concept.

To achieve this one hundred Pc’s have been locally networked and are making use of computer simulation software to create a scenario which takes place in a specific region,

and in 2007 typically in South-East Asia, in the Strait of Malacca and Singapore.


The exercise is being led by Staff Officers from the NATO Maritime Component Commander HQ Northwood in the United Kingdom. They provide overall operational guidance and exercise control whilst the EGUERMIN personnel remain responsible for the delivery of war-game hardware and software, administrative and logistical support.


In total 19 countries were participating and observing including NATO, PfP and Mediterranean Dialogue (Egypt) nations; more in particular representatives of :
Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Great-Britain, Italy, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Rumania, Turkey, the United States and Sweden).


The in total more then 120 participants consist of officers and ratings originating from national units / commands and NATO task groups such as SNMCMG1 and SNMCMG2.
