After modernization of the Netherlands and Belgian Mine
Countermeasure Vessels, the
Naval Mine Warfare Team Training Facility
(TTF) has been providing instruction and expertise to
prospective mine warfare personnel since inception
(month 2008). The TTF has replaced the dated Naval Mine
Warfare Simulator, and with comparability in the
training congruence possibilities, it is not uncommon to
call the Team Training Facility by its former name, the
‘Simulator’. This facility comprises three cubicles,
each with six multifunctional consoles, an instructor /
facilitator room with three consoles, an auditorium with
one console, a technical room and a preparation room
that contains three consoles. At any one time, it is
feasible to provide a consortium and broad spectrum of
Mine Warfare practical training relating to the Belgian
and Netherlands Mine Warfare systems for up to 18
students at one time.

In the
Naval Mine Warfare Gaming System
(NMWGS),
officers are trained in planning, conducting and
evaluating NMCM operations, trough computer assisted
wargames. The computer program simulates the interaction
between a variety of ship types and different mine
types, taking into account the specific size, signature
and NMCM weapon systems of the ships, the particular
settings of the mines and the environmental conditions
of the area.
